How to

While the worldbuilding post is an excellent place to try and figure out City history CR, this page is more to help you to decide who you should apply for in the first place. Give us a good idea of what kind of character you're thinking of and let others comment in on how they might see it working! Think of it as a thought experiment for yourself and other players. As a reminder, this is completely optional. You are totally free to reserve or apply someone without commenting to this post first. ♢ Reception to your idea will have no effect on how the mods process your app. This is only a tool to help you decide who to put the effort into. ♢ Don't spam or flame any potential character comments. While just going "OMG YES!!" can be encouraging, it doesn't really give anyone a whole lot to work with, and neither does shooting someone down. Be constructive. ♢ Give your honest opinion. If you think a character really wouldn't fit in the setting, express your concerns. Maybe the potential applicant didn't think of it from a certain point of view. City life: IDK help. The obvious option would be some kind of scientist, either in a university or a private lab or something somewhere, but then there's the less obvious option of jazz singer a la Esperanza Spalding, or a saxophonist, or something like that. What do, help. :c Also names, God I hate humanizing her name.
Powers: I'mmmm not sure. Would the revealed powers be all her heightened senses/strength/etc.? I don't think I want to add any powers to her. :|a
Do you think they'll be active? More or less. T'Pol's more a watcher, but she manages to get involved.
Do you think they'll participate in plot? depends on what's in it for her. :v

Potential concerns: The problem I usually end up having with T'Pol is that she doesn't play well with others, or make friends easily without being forced into it, but I thiiiink that can work with the City side of things if she's told that's her polar opposite. Is that doable? Could she get into trouble for not being friendly and out going, etc. etc. because that's what her city persona is?

Re: her name, it shouldn't be too hard? I mean, you're not humanizing it so much as just giving her a human one. Her powers could easily be enhanced physical capabilities (which would include senses) or her mind-melding abilities.

She wouldn't necessary get in trouble for it... unless she had a job that required her to speak with people. Maybe something like a reporter or perhaps a social sciences major? Look at me, pretending to know what I'm talking about...

Haha, nope! The name is not supposed to reference her. For example, my two characters' names right now are Liam McNally / "Owen Bates" and Sefton Lowell / "Jeremy Daveen". They kind of match their ethnicity and similar backgrounds, but that's about it.

Hahaha, yes, something like that! If you can spin it a way that makes sense for a T'Pol-like person going into that sort of profession.

Hmmm, so the City self still directly resembles their real personality, there's no 'this person you're telling me to be is completely and totally different from what I remember?'

Unfortunately not, no. They can have differences, but the idea is that there is a distinct similarity between a character and who the Workers say they used to be in the City.
