How to

While the worldbuilding post is an excellent place to try and figure out City history CR, this page is more to help you to decide who you should apply for in the first place. Give us a good idea of what kind of character you're thinking of and let others comment in on how they might see it working! Think of it as a thought experiment for yourself and other players. As a reminder, this is completely optional. City life: I think ideally Edward is first and foremost an academic. But the problem with being an academic is that with his outspoken nature, he often will find himself in trouble, speaking out and causing more conflict.

Powers: Well if we are considering that they have already lived their canon, which is what I think is the gist of it, then this is not an issue at all. What do you guys think? (For those that are unfamiliar Edward was an alchemist the entire series until the end. I'd warn for spoilers, but it's been almost two years.)

Do you think they'll be active? Oh yes. Definitely. And I'm an active player and he's always my strongest muse.

Do you think they'll participate in plot? A mystery is right up his alley, and I think he would want to resolve the matter, and even go back to his known life.

Why this character interests you here: I think it would be fun, and this type of setting is something that would be challenging for Edward to handle. His drive is family and without it, it can be a rough experience for him.

Potential concerns: As always, my potential concerns with him are that he's abrasive, he can be rough around the edges. However, this strangley does not seem to stop him gaining friends even though he may not want them, heh!

There are quite a few abrasive academics in the world. I doubt Ed would have much of a problem there.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, re: powers. Yes, they do wake up remembering all of their canon lives up to their canonpoints... but how does that correlate to his powers in this sense?

Hm, well if a character had powers and they wanted to adapt it to the setting they could, is that right?

In Edward's case, it would depend on the canonpoint. He loses his alchemy powers, or rather, gives them up, sealing them forever in the end.

I guess it's more a question if that were allowed, would that be more interesting to have alchemy or not?

It would indeed be allowed for Ed to have his alchemy in-game! We have an example of a character already doing something like this in Hope Estheim.

Another perhaps odd question:

If his memories are a lie, would that mean that injuries and things of that nature would be fake? Like the scars would leave his body, or in Ed's case, he wouldn't have prosthesis?

From the Worldbuilding 101 page:

While Sleepers will not remember anything of their City lives, it should be noted that any physical differences between the Sleeper and Cityself will be in favor of the Cityself. Even if the Sleeper remembers having a limp, if no event causing such a disability occurred in the City history, then the Sleeper will wake without a limp. Accents are a little trickier, as they are more a mental conditioning than physical, and follow the reverse principle: whatever accent a Sleeper had in their dream would trump any differences in accent due to their City life. This same principle means that City histories should not include any sort of supernatural power; they are, as you may have guessed, aftereffects of the apocalyptic event.

What this means is that it's... really up to you. His Cityself could certainly have had something happen wherein prosthesis would become a necessity. Let's use another character in the game as an example here: Ken Parker has a limp in canon because he was shot down in a war. His Cityself, George Kardos, was said to have lost his leg in a civil war and instead has a prosthetic leg. Because of this, Ken also has a prosthetic leg in-game instead of the limp he is used to.
